Kung-fu, Math Final Boss and Big Changes

As a society, we’ve come to associate the term kung fu with Chinese martial arts and systems of fighting. This association is only half-true. Of course, many branches and styles of martial arts fall under the term “kung fu”, but that term isn’t limited to that. Kung fu is any ability achieved or tempered through hard work, patience and practice. ANY skill.  With that being said, it’s been helpful for me to apply that mind to my art, to explore the idea of kung fu in my creative endeavors. I think it’s interesting to broaden the scope of what it means to practice kung fu in that way.

I’ve been applying kung fu to a weaker area of my knowledge when it comes to school, and that area is math. Yeah, I kinda hate it. With that being said, today’s post won’t be very meaty due to studying for my math final that’s next week (I won’t ever have to take math again after this, thank goodness). I haven’t really been too focused on drawing or writing this weak because of that and dealing with the growing anxiety inherent in exam weeks).

These next couple of weeks I’m going to be dealing with a lot of big changes, so I will post as much as I can, and announce beforehand if I can’t post something for a given week. I’m getting ready to move into my first apartment in the next 2 weeks with my girlfriend. I turned 22 today. What the hell. 22. Maybe it’s because of that and the packing and the moving, but it feels like I’m on the cusp of a huge change in my life beyond just physical. I don’t know, I get this strange sensation that a growth is about to take place. Maybe I’m about to level-up in my life? I hope so. I think I’m ready to break some of my more destructive habits and attitudes. Here’s to growth! I have work training the week of the move, and then actual work afterwards, and then the semester starts. I hope I can find the strength to hit the ground running through all this.

Well like I said, I will try to keep consistent in my weekly posts, but it will be hectic until my schedule can stabilize. Til next time, peace.
